Have I mentioned here that I love when it rains? If not, I tell you now. I DO! I REALLY DO! But today, it's different!

I was halfway through the 3rd season of Grey's Anatomy[1] when, though my curtains were down, I noticed it was too dark for 4 something in the afternoon. I looked outside and saw grayish clouds outstretching over our place. A mild thunder followed. "Yes!" was all I could say out of joy. Curtains still down I opened the window so the cold breeze could enter inside then I continued watching while lying almost flat on my bed. The rain fell and I couldn't get any happier. Almost 2 hours passed I decided to just finish the 21st episode and go downstairs to cook rice for dinner. When I got out of bed and about to pause the player, my foot caused a swash of water as I stepped on the floor. I was stunned when I saw water all over my bedroom! I opened the door through the balcony, which I then discovered was also flooded with water, to check up on the hole that was supposed to drain water just in case the rain fills the place. The hole was blocked by some dirt so the water continued to fill up until it entered my room. So what else could I do? My room had just become a lake so might as well bring it back to its normal state. I decided to not tell my mom 'cause she always asks if water gets inside my room when it rains and I always say no. I had to figure out what to do with the sudden flood all by myself 'cause my mom would surely lecture me when she found out.

Now I managed to remove the water. I turned on the fan to help dry the floor.

[1] Yeaah. DVD. I'm bored. I want to go to school but it will start on the 17th so there's nothing more I can do to survive this boring afternoon.

Current Weather: Rainy (very hard)
Temperature: Cold
Current Activity: Sipping hot coffee
Feeling: Happy and Relaxed B-D

One of the things I missed doing is locking myself up inside my bedroom and do the "DVD marathon", as they call it. Last Monday of May, I was walking somewhere in Pasig with my mom when I saw a small stall selling DVDs. I instantly thought of buying the Korean TV Show, Boys Over Flowers, since the one I bought the week before had unreadable subtitle. Also on display was another foreign TV show, 1 Litre of Tears. I had no idea about the story--all I know is that GMA7 airs it every night--but since I also like watching heavy dramas (the title has an obvious meaning), I asked my mom to buy the two.

No, no. I'm not going to spill and embarrass myself that, in my age, stories like Boys Over Flowers still give me the thrill. And no, I won't even mention that I have a crush on Lee Min Ho (as Gu Jun Pyo). And I won't even tell you that I'm praying to have Geum Jan Di's luck in her lovelife. Nooooooooooo! (?)

Instead, I want to share how 1 Litre of Tears inspired me a lot and opened my mind in the reality that life is indeed precious.

1 Litre of Tears (1リットルの涙 Ichi Rittoru no Namida) was based on Aya Kito's diary (photo on the left) which was published shortly before she died last May 23, 1988. In the TV show, when Aya Ikeuchi (played by Erika Sawajiri) was only15, she was diagnosed with Spinocerebellar Degenerative Disease (SCD). For a bit of information, the affected area of this disease is a part of our brain called the cerebellum which controls the movement of our body. People with SCD experience a failure in muscle control in their extremities resulting in poor balance and coordination. so they always fall. As the disease progresses, the person will soon not be able to move, talk, and swallow food. Generally, the disease only affects the muscle movement; the mental capacity of the patient stays normal. Aya's diary was meant to monitor how the disease was progressing and eventually served as her medium to express her views about life.

The story was indeed inspirational especially for those who happen to have the same disease as Aya's. It also serves as an eye-opener to those who's faith have been dragged down by their condition. After watching the series, I realized that life doesn't stop when you've discovered you are very ill. Just like Aya, continue to live and inspire others. It's hard to accept it at first but , eventually, you will.

"Live on. Live on forever."

It started yesterday. I looked outside the window and saw some kiddos passing by our house wearing their school uniforms and carrying their backpacks certainly filled with new notebooks, pencils, and whatnot. "It's June. Summer has officially ended," was what came to mind. Though in fact it ended a bit earlier right when it started raining, it hasn't sunk in to me yet. Half of my 2-week vacation has passed but I still haven't enjoyed it yet. Or should I say, I still haven't had much time for relaxing and unwinding.

Isn't it that summer's all about the the sun, clear waters (or pool waters), cold drinks, bonding time with family and friends, being free of everything school-related? Too bad I had hospital duties for this year's sunny season. But the Goodness still had mercy on me. I was able to enjoy two summer outings. One with the whole family and some relatives and the other with my good old friends.

And to sum it all up, I picked some of the pictures taken during the outings and put it all together in a "digital scrapbook":

HELLO, RAIN!! =D
